Beginner, intermediate and advanced lessons offered for individuals and groups on local Anchorage lakes from June to September

Description

Looking to try out paddleboarding for the first time, or hone your skills? Learn the basics of paddling techniques, stopping, and several types of turns in our lessons. We highlight key Alaska-specific water safety components for SUP recreation. We can offer an in-depth overview of the different types of gear for those looking to purchase a SUP, or focus more on water-based skills, depending on your goals. We also offer video technique analysis for more advanced paddlers.

All lessons include

-All necessary gear! Top of the line board, paddle and leash

-Optional wetsuit, gloves and booties for those chilly Alaska days

-PFD (personal flotation device)

-On-land safety & technique instruction

-On-water paddle instruction

Group 1.5 hour lesson

Group setting SUP instruction for all ability levels. Excellent setting for family reunions, company team building, birthday parties, anniversary celebrations, bachelor parties, or simply a group of friends looking for a fun activity! Max group size: 6-10 (Call for parties greater than 6 people).

WHAT TO BRING

Come prepared for your class or lesson with:

  • Signed liability form and declaration of health form (or arrive early before class to complete)
  • Swimsuit to wear under wetsuit or clothing that can get wet
  • Towel
  • Drinking water
  • Sunblock/hat/sunglasses
  • Snacks
  • Personal medications (ie- asthma inhalor, epipen)
  • Camera (waterproof is ideal; we provide deck bags but do not guarantee dry gear)
  • Warm clothing for before and after you paddle

Cancellation policy for all lessons and classes: Cancellations or re-booking made greater than 24 hours in advance will receive a full refund. Customers will be charged for no-shows and cancellations made within 24 hours of scheduled service.

We will be there, rain or shine! If weather or wind conditions make paddling session unsafe, we will re-book or refund customers. We will do our best to notify participants at least an hour in advance, via the contact phone number provided, about cancellations due to weather. Due to the unpredictable nature of Alaska’s weather, windy or wet conditions may necessitate the cancellation of a class, lesson or day trip once everyone arrives or even midway through the scheduled session.  Ultimately we will make our decisions with participant safety being the number one priority.

AWS operates under Municipality of Anchorage and Alaska State Parks permits. We are passionate about promoting practice of safe recreation on the water; All clients are required to utilize a leash and PFD (personal flotation device).
